My work explores the idea that painting and drawing have the capacity to represent the interactions with intuited unseen worlds, bringing to light our individual and collective presence. My process begins with a form that evolves as I add layers, building up material and leaving behind heavy tool and brush marks with strong lines. This gives my work a firm sense of weight and substance while evoking a feeling of distance. As I add layer upon layer and make and correct mistakes the form solidifies, enhancing the feeling of otherness. I work more with instinct than intention to achieve balance within the work. The palette, usually limited to black and white, reveals a textured and variant surface.
Stories are our most important tools;
The story is condition.
The ladder effect, almost fractal like,how a human body is influenced by the world- its society- and universe
steps of environments,
steps of our relations,
steps of our mind,
quantum steps.
The story is what binds it all together.
(without it the universe would never had been created)
Feelings are the stories condition- and emotions are separate to the human form.
The body almost walks into/through/past/under/over/with/together emotions
...feeling them
The verse has set up its environment
that we arrange with instinct [potential]
Sparking reaction and emotion
like flint to a fire (that has always been)
(even in depravation we find something to tell a story about)
